NASA Visits the Cape Academy: Inspiring the Next Generation of Space Explorers

Learners at the Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology were recently given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage with one of NASA’s top officials. Mr. Badri Younes, the NASA Deputy Associate Administrator for Space Communications and Navigation, visited the school and delivered a captivating address to students and staff.

During the session, Mr. Younes delved into NASA’s cutting-edge space science research and the crucial role that space communications plays in supporting the agency’s missions. Learners were introduced to the intricate systems that allow spacecraft to stay connected with Earth, and how these technologies make space exploration possible.

One of the most exciting parts of the talk was an overview of NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon. Mr. Younes also highlighted South Africa’s contribution to this global mission, showcasing the important role the country plays in the future of space exploration.
